What does the course schedule look like?

waves

If you have already completed your Emergency First Responder (or equivalent) course then the PADI Rescue course can be done over three days. The first day is theory at the resort. This consists of watching a video divided up into five sections and completing the corresponding knowledge review. There are quick quizzes to complete and a multiple choice final exam at the end of the day. There may even be time to practice some search patterns on land!

The following two days are out on the boats, reviewing the dive skills needed to be a fantastic rescue diver. There are ten skills to master and two rescue scenarios to complete. If all goes to plan there may be time for a little ‘fun dive’ as well. Should you not already have your Emergency First Responder certification then you will need to allow for an extra day at the resort to complete this course.

Save Time On Your Trip With PADI e-Learning before arrival

If you are keen to get into the water faster, or you are limited for time during your holiday then there is the option to complete the theory before you arrive. The PADI e-learning option means you can review the theory in your own time and at your own speed before the start of your holiday. To do the e-learning you’ll need a laptop and good internet access. If you have any questions about how e-learning works then do feel free to get in touch!

If you use our affiliate link then you will get a discount on your e-learning price! This is paid directly to PADI when you start the e-learning, it costs around 225 AUD but can vary. If you complete the e-learning prior to arrival then you will not need to do a theory day at the resort. Please email us for more information on the e-learning packages.

frequently asked questions

How many dives do I need to start the course?

There is no minimum requirement for the number of dives to start this course, but we do recommend you have been diving in the last 6 months. If not then it’s best to do a day's fun diving before getting stuck in!

What dive sites will I do?

All dive sites depend on the conditions at the time. You will be at a couple of sandy sites to complete the skills required for this course. This is a skills focused course that is less about what you see and more about what you learn, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get to experience Komodo National Park and the great things it has to offer!
